Did You Know That.....

  - Approximately 109 million American adults volunteer annually - that's 56 percent of all adults.

  - 3.5 hours per week are contributed to non-profit organizations by volunteers.

Why should you volunteer? You will...

  1. Significantly improve the lives of children with disabilities in your community.
  2. Help Variety achieve its mission and special program goals.
  3. Increase personal satisfaction because you are needed and appreciated.
  4. Share your special skills and time with others.
  5. Learn new skills.
  6. Meet new people.
  7. Be challenged.
  8. Do something different.
  9. Earn academic credit or service hours.
  10. Be a good steward of what you have been given.

Variety has ongoing needs for volunteers to assist our staff and children in many areas. You can offer your skills as an individual or as a group of individuals. Consider allowing your talents to shine in some of the following areas.

  -  Office/clerical help (copying, mailings, special projects)
  -  Special Events (assist with set ups, take downs, checking in attendees, equipment)
  -  Computer IT
  -  Securing auction items
  -  Telethon
  -  Bikes for Kids (help build bikes, assist with the event and delivery of bicycles to agencies)
  -  Adventure Camp (become a counselor for a three-week camp that our children attend)
  -  Professional services (photography, writers, public relations, designers, etc.)

Sarah's Story

William Shakespeare wrote, “All the world’s a stage.” In Sarah’s world, her place is not on the stage, but in the wings managing the show. The high school senior has been involved in school productions since ninth grade, but it wasn’t until she served as assistant stage manager for the Variety Children’s Theatre production of “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer” that she realized just how big a role theatre plays in her life.
