Chase shows off his decorated therapeutic bike, a gift from Variety.

Will, 6 years old, has never experienced the thrill of riding a bike due to cerebral palsy, a neurological disorder that affects muscle tone, movement and motor skills.
He uses a wheelchair to get around, and while all of his friends in kindergarten were learning to ride their bikes, he sat on the sidelines and watched. He and his family even volunteered last year at Variety’s Bikes for Kids event, when more than 300 children received bikes – including 33 kids who received custom therapeutic bikes.
The therapeutic bikes are designed especially for children with disabilities who are unable to ride a traditional bike, and they can cost up to $3,000. The bikes provide excellent therapy, as well as valuable recreational opportunities as kids are finally able to ride with their friends and family members. As those 33 children received their brand new bikes, Will watched and dreamed of the day he would have his own. Will is one of 32 children currently on our waiting list for a custom therapeutic bike.
We hope to present all of them with at the 2011 Bikes for Kids event – but we can’t do it without you! Click here to donate to Variety and help make Will's dream come true!
