This spring, Variety Teen Sarah and her date (who traveled all the way from Minnesota for the occasion) arrived at the Senior Prom in style. They didn’t take a car, or even a limo – nope, Sarah, Nick and friends rode The Bubble Bus.
Typically, The Bubble Bus provides entertainment for birthday parties and school groups – offering a climbing wall, balance beam, trampoline, overhead ladder, zip line, and lots and lots of bubbles. But on this Saturday night in May, the bus transported nine high school students – two in power wheelchairs – to prom. The bus, owned by a contact of one of Sarah’s friends, already had one wheelchair tie-down. Sarah’s date would have taken a different vehicle, but The Bubble Bus owner wouldn’t hear of it. He installed another set of tie-downs for Nick’s chair.
Sarah said the bus ride was “super-fun” – definitely a unique way to get to prom. Kudos to The Bubble Bus for being fully accessible and making their night!
Sarah, who graduated from Kirkwood High School this year, will attend Maryville University in the fall. She is working this summer as a counselor at Variety Adventure Camp.
