Come join the parade!

For the past four years, Jakob has joined his friends, marveled at the music and waved at spectators while becoming part of Variety's annual parade.

Laura Forster-Reuther, Jakob's mother, called the parade, which runs down Lindell Boulevard, a “fun family event. All kids like parades.”

Jakob, in particular, enjoys parades, Laura said. “He loves the bands, and he loves being part of it.”

All Variety children are encouraged to participate in this exciting event, which brings kids and their families together to socialize, provides entertainment to the community, and spreads the word about Variety.

Each parade unit will have a theme, and when children sign up to participate, they will be assigned to a unit. They can then dress up or decorate their wheelchairs to match the theme.

Variety children and one family member will be part of the parade, while other friends and family members are encouraged to line up along Lindell and watch the parade pass by.

In addition to the themed units, the parade will include giant balloons, marching bands and characters such as Fredbird. Better watch out, or your head will end up in his mouth!
