RUMBLE Rally
Variety the Children’s Charity of St. Louis has benefitted from a portion of the proceeds for the fifth year in a row. Since 2003, Rumble to the River has raised more than $78,000 for Variety’s Therapeutic Bike Program. This year, we have 45 children with various physical disabilities on the waiting list. Each therapeutic bike is customized according to a child’s disability. Some bikes are hand-propelled, while others are foot propelled. The cost associated with a customized therapeutic bike ranges between $1,500 and $4,500.
The benefits are three-fold:
1) Therapeutic bikes help develop the upper and lower body strength.
2) They help to improve socialization opportunities with friends, neighbors and family.
3) They assist to improve a child’s independence, while keeping them active.
Variety thanks Michael Staenberg, Richard Laughlin and all participating bikers for including Variety the Children’s Charity of St. Louis in this annual fundraiser. Michael Staenberg is a vice president on the Variety board of directors.
